Quarrie questions manner in which JII Meet was cancelled

Report by RJRGLEANER Communications Group Sports Reporter Jeremain Brown

Meet Director and Athletes Liasion for the Jamaica International Invitational (JII) meet Donald Quarrie is questioning the way in which the meet was cancelled for a 4th straight year.

Quarrie explains that he was not aware of the meet being cancelled until almost a month after the decision was made.

The meet which is a World Athletics World Challenge Tour event, was scheduled to be held on May 7 at the National Stadium.

Regarding the cancellation, Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) president Garth Gayle was only willing to divulge that the association was informed by the organizers in writing that the meet would not be held this year.

The cancellaton of the meet took place while Quarrie was still in talks with agents and athletes about competing at this year's staging. The meet which began in 2004, was last staged in 2018.
