Simmons among candidates to become India's cricket coach

Former West Indies head coach Phil Simmons is one of six men in the running to be the next head coach of India’s cricket team. The 56 year old stepped down as Afghanistan's coach after the ICC World Cup in England last month and is now seeking his next opportunity.

The other men in the race are Tom Moody, Ravi Shastri, Mike Hesson, Lalchand Rajput and Trinidadian Robin Singh. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to make their decision by Friday. India's last piece of international success was the ICC Champions Trophy win in 2013.
