Thompson-Herah shortlisted for world Female Athlete of the Year Award

Jamaica's two time double olympic sprint champion Elaine Thompson-Herah has been shortlisted for the World Athletics Female Athlete of the Year Award.

Thompson-Herah now holds the title of fastest woman alive following her national record of 10.54 seconds in August in Eugene, Oregon, the venue for next year's World Athletics Championships.

The 29 year old also won the Olympic 100 metre title in a Games record of 10.61 seconds before defending her 200 metre title in a national record of 21.53 seconds.

She also won gold as part of Jamaica's 4x100 metre relay team in tokyo where the quartet posted a natrional recoed of 41.02 seconds.

She was also crowned the Diamond League 100 metre champion.
The remainder of the short list includes the Olympic 5000 and 10,000 metre champion Sifan Hassan of the Netherlands who is also the 10,000 metre world record holder, Kenya's Faith Kipyegon, the Olympic 1500 metre champion, American Sydney McLaughlin, the Olympic 400 metre hurdles champion and Venezuela's world record holder and Olympic triple jump  champion Yulimar Rojas.

The male and female World Athletes of the Year will be announced at the World Athletics Awards on December 1.
