Windies all-rounder drafted by BBL franchise

West Indies all-rounder Keemo Paul is all set for his maiden Big Bash League (BBL) stint after signing on with the Hobart Hurricanes. The 2016 Under-19 World Cup winner inked the deal after recommendation from Australian legend Ricky Ponting, who was head coach of the Delhi Capitals squad at IPL 2020, where Paul was a member despite not playing a single game.

Paul will link up with the Hurricanes squad after the West Indies’ tour of New Zealand, comprising three T20s later this month and a two-test series, the last of which commences on December 11. As such, he will end up missing Hurricanes' first three matches, including the BBL opener on December 10.

Paul stood out with his nine wickets for Guyana Amazon Warriors in this year's Caribbean Premier League, with a best effort of 4-19. The Guyanese joins Nicholas Pooran and Carlos Brathwaite as West Indians to be drafted in for this year's BBL.
