The first One Day International between the West Indies and South Africa in East London was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to rain. The game was set to bowl off at 6:00 am Jamaica time on Thursday.
However, steady rain forced the delay of the toss and the match.
The West Indies are looking for their first win on the tour after losing the test series 2-0.
Both teams come into the series on the back of poor performances in the format with the Windies winning just one of their last five games, while South Africa celebrated two victories in their last five.
The Windies have not won an ODI series against South Africa since 1992 and have won one of their last 20 games against the hosts in a ODI series.
