J.C. Hutchinson, Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, will officially hand over 2,400 acres of land to some 220 farmers on Monday.
Mr. Hutchinson said the acquisition of the property in Holland Estate, St. Elizabeth, is another step in the Government's commitment to get lands in the hands of farmers in order to boost agricultural production.
Mr. Hutchinson noted that production from the farm will facilitate the reintroduction and strengthening of breakfast and lunch programmes in a number of schools in St. Elizabeth.
Students at more than 800 schools across the island are provided with breakfast and/or lunch each week under the Government's national school-feeding programme.
