Caribbean Airlines to provide cheaper flights

Air Jamaica's parent company, Caribbean Airlines Limited, says it will examine how best it can reduce airfares to facilitate cheaper travel for Caribbean people.

The airline said lower fares are crucial to its intention to have one Caribbean airline servicing all Caribbean destinations.

The airline says it will "work with every Government, where possible" to reduce the cost of air travel.

The announcement comes as the airline seeks to acquire nine new aircraft at a cost of U$200 million to boost regional travel.

In addition to seeking an active reduction in airfares, the airline also said it will add three flights per week from Guyana to New York.

The flights are expected to be added in the next two months.
