Gavin Myers, the Westmoreland-based motor car dealer who was kidnapped from his motor vehicle dealership by a group of armed men on Tuesday, is speaking out following his release.

Mr. Myers was released on Wednesday, reportedly after a ransom was paid out to the kidnappers.

He told Radio Jamaica News that he was tending to a group of men seeking to purchase a motor truck when they pulled M16 rifles and forced him into a vehicle.

He said the men claimed they were members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force and wanted to talk to him. Mr. Myers said he became concerned when they placed a bag over his head during the journey.

When he questioned them: "Dem seh it bigger than them; annuh dem want me, a di bigger heads...of police."

He said he came to the realisation that the men could not be police officers based on their actions.

"Dem tek mi go a one far place. Mi nuh know weh mi guh. I don't know if I go left, I don't know if I go right. Mi know seh mi end up a one far place. Mi nuh see nut'n. From di moment dem put di bag over mi head, mi nuh see nut'n until dem drop mi off back when mi tek di bag offa mi head. The bag is on my head all day," he recalled.

Mr. Myers was tightlipped on the alleged ransom supposedly paid to the abductors.

But he denied claims circulating in the media that he is involved in gang activities and lottery scamming in Westmoreland.

"If they say mi involved in gang, what is the name of that gang? Cause I want to know myself.... The whole scamming thing is because mi a run a car dealership, right? A lot of people come there weh dem seh a scammer. I don't know. People just assume seh people a scammer, you understand. Mi never hear di man dem a scam or nut'n, but people buy a lot a vehicle from mi," he insisted.
