The Turkish Athletics Federation has written to the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), requesting that Jamaican Olympic discus gold medallist Roje Stona's files be changed to Turkey.
According to highly-placed Radio Jamaica Sports sources, the federation indicated that Stona decided as of June 11, 2025 to change his sport nationality to Turkey.
That development came even as the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) on Friday reiterated that it has neither been notified nor received a request for the transfer of allegiance of any Jamaican athletes, whether those mentioned in referenced media reports or any other.
The Garth Gayle-led JAAA administration added that it will continue to be guided by the world athletics transfer of allegiance regulations and will engage with the requisite processes.
Meanwhile, it's understood that the Turkish Ministry of Sports advised the AIU that it approached and convinced Stona to return to his track and field career under their flag, after realizing he was pursuing a career in the NFL.
Stona along with Olympic shot put bronze medallist Rajindra Campbell and Olympic triple jump finalist Jaydon Hibbert will be ambassadors of Turkey's "Talent Transfer Between Disciplines" project.
