Danville Walker, new MD of Appliance Traders

Danville Walker has been appointed Managing Director of Appliance Traders Limited (ATL). The Butch Stewart-led company announced Wednesday that the appointment was with immediate effect. 

Mr. Walker will remain Managing Director of the Jamaica Observer newspaper, part of the ATL Group.    

Danville Walker made his reputation as an effective no-nonsense manager during his eleven-year stint as Director of Elections, from 1997 to 2008. He was appointed Commissioner of Customs in May, 2008 and resigned that post in late 2011 to contest the general election in December that year on the ticket of the Jamaica Labour Party.

Having failed in his bid to become a parliamentarian, Walker quit the Jamaica Labour Party in February, 2012 and took up his current position at the Jamaica Observer.
