Exports from Jamaica's manufacturing industry up 2.3% in first five months of 2024

Exports from Jamaica's Manufacturing Industry grew by 2.3 per cent in the first five months of 2024.

In its latest International Merchandise Trade Bulletin, the Statistical Institute of Jamaica (STATIN) said the value of goods in this category going overseas was valued at US$383.3 million.

This was supported by increases in exports for both sub-groups.

Exports of Other Manufactured Products increased by 2.8 per cent, reaching $218.8 million.

For January to May 2023, these exports came to US$212.7 million.

The growth was due primarily to higher exports of Refined Petroleum Products, which increased by 1.9 per cent.

Goods going overseas in the Food, Beverages and Tobacco sub-group amounted to $164.5 million, a 1.6% increase from the $161.9 million earned in the corresponding period in 2023.
