Gassan Azan to head Jamaica Trade and Invest

Well-known businessman Gassan Azan is the new Chairman of Jamaica Trade and Invest, formerly Jampro.

He is among seven new Chairmen whose appointments have been approved by Cabinet.

The other appointments were announced on Tuesday by Industry Minister Karl Samuda.

"The Chairman for the Factories Corporation will be Phillip Gore, another well known businessman, highly successful developer," said Mr. Samuda.

"For the Kingston and Montego Bay Freezone these are brought together under the chairmanship of Mr. Winston Deer, a well known as respected businessman from Montego Bay,"

"The Companies Office of Jamaica, there will be no change in the chairmanship, Mr. Peter Goldson, a highly skilled, well informed lawyer," he said.

Insurance executive Richard Fontaine will head the Board of the Consumer Affairs Commission.

Veteran Stockbroker Ed McKie will head the Trade Board while Cleveland Stewart is the new Chairman of the Jamaica Business Development Centre.

Mr. Samuda says the new Chairmen of eight other Boards will be announced next week.
