The Jamaica Police Federation is raising concern over reports of the suspension of overtime payments and the non-payment of salary increments to some rank-and-file members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
In a memorandum to its members on Friday, the Federation said it had not received any formal communication from the Police High Command about a suspension of overtime payments.
But it says officers across several divisions have reported being informed by their supervisors that overtime payments to administrative staff have been suspended.
The Federation says members have also reportedly been told to work only 40 hours per week.
The Federation says it is aware of growing frustration among its members and is actively seeking clarity.
It has confirmed being invited to a meeting with National Security Minister Dr. Horace Chang for Thursday, July 3, at which the issues of overtime and increments will be on the agenda for urgent discussion.
In addition, the Federation says it is requesting a meeting with the Police High Command to address the concerns raised by members.
The Federation is reminding members that overtime payments are court-ordered and therefore cannot be unilaterally suspended.
It is appealing for patience while discussions take place and says the Central Committee remains committed to resolving what it describes as "vexed issues."
