The Jamaica Co-operative Credit Union League says it hopes that a decision will be made this year on proposed Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) regulations to govern the sector.
It says while agreements have been reached on some issues there are still matters which it continues to lobby the Central Bank and the Ministry of Finance.
The League says some of the critical matters which need to be addressed are the 10% cap on unsecured credit, the start up capital for new credit unions and the treatment of unclaimed members’ savings.
The issue of cash reserves is also on the list.
