Jamaica Stock Exchange net profit nearly triples in Q2

The Jamaica Stock Exchange Group is reporting a significant improvement in financial performance, with net profit after tax surging 191 per cent in the second quarter of this year.

The Group earned $132.4 million for the three months ended June, compared with the corresponding period last year.

The strong performance was driven by higher income and a significant reduction in expenses.

Total income increased 9.6 per cent to $721.9 million, with all revenue categories recording growth.

The improved second-quarter performance has brought the Group's year-to-date results to only marginally below last year's level.

The JSE Group says there are signs that stock market activity is gradually recovering, with increased participation and interest from investors and companies.

However, it remains mindful of risks from elevated inflation, international commodity prices and geopolitical tensions.
