JBDC urged to play greater role in helping MSMEs drive innovation

Professor Don Robotham has challenged the Jamaica Business Development Corporation (JBDC) to play a bigger role in getting members of the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) sector to become more technologically driven and innovative to sustain economic growth and job creation.

He suggested that the agency should be working more closely with the Development Bank of Jamaica and the Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO) to facilitate a greater level of investment in research and development, new technologies and training by members of the sector.

Professor Robotham stressed that this is extremely important if the members of the sector are going to be able to compete locally as well as in the international markets to which they have access.
