The JSE Index advanced by 1,309 points on Friday, while the Junior Market Index advanced by five points.
Overall market activity resulted from trading in 113 stocks, of which 62 advanced, 37 declined and 14 traded firm.
Elite Diagnostic was the volume leader with 62 per cent of total volume.
