Prime Minister Gaston Browne of Antigua & Barbuda is pressing the United States to explain why his country is considered a national-security threat, warranting visa restrictions.
Mr. Browne says his administration remains in discussions with officials from the US State Department and has written directly to President Donald Trump, seeking clarification.
The Prime Minister says Antigua & Barbuda has no known hostile posture toward the United States and that his government is unaware of any incident that could justify the measures.
He also raised questions about the treatment of Caribbean countries operating Citizenship by Investment programmes.
Mr. Browne acknowledged that leaders of small developing states have limited direct access to a US president unless Washington facilitates broader engagement with the region.
