More than 34,000 customers of the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) are benefitting from the recent expansion and upgrade of the Parnassus Substation in Clarendon.
According to Blaine Jarrett, Senior Vice President for Energy Delivery at JPS, the project was born out of the need to increase capacity and will allow more customers to be added to the network in the area while resulting in greater service efficiencies for these customers.
The substation serves approximately 13,000 people directly.
The project was completed at a cost of $347.6 million.
The light and power company says it has earmarked millions of dollars for more upgrades islandwide, with expansion projects set for Porus in Manchester this year, followed by Paradise in Westmoreland.
