Australia supports plan to remove Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor from line of royal succession

Australia's Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has written to UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer to say that his government would support plans to remove Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor from the line of royal succession.

Andrew, who remains eighth in line to the throne, was stripped of his royal titles including that of Prince in October amidst scrutiny over his connections to pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.

The UK government is now considering legislation to formally remove him from the succession line following Andrew's arrest Thursday on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

In order to remove him, it would require an act of parliament supported by the 14 Commonwealth nations.

He has consistently denied any wrongdoing.
