Port Authority of Jamaica pays millions to senior executives

The Port Authority of Jamaica paid more than J$250 million to its senior executives during its 2015/2016 financial year.

The agency's annual report, which was tabled Tuesday in the House of Representatives, showed it had 19 senior executives who received a combined J$258.5 million.

The salary packages ranged from a high of $26.2 million, paid to Port Authority CEO and President Gordon Shirley, to a low of $2.6 million received by the Vice President for Port Community Systems.

During the financial year, the Port Authority realised a net profit of just over $3 billion, an increase of 76 per cent over the previous twelve months. This was due, in part, to an eight per cent increase in revenue.
