Sandals says Bahamas properties listed for auction 'by mistake'

Sandals Resorts International says the inclusion of some of its properties on an auction list published by the Bahamas Department of Island Revenue was a mistake and will be corrected.

The Jamaica-based hotel group says it remains fully committed to the Bahamas and continues to invest heavily in the region.

The Bahamas Department of Island Revenue has demanded that Sandals pay US$30.8 million in back taxes, but the resort chain is contesting the assessment, maintaining that it does not owe the amount claimed and is actively engaged in discussions with authorities to resolve the dispute.
