Sherwin-Williams has closed its manufacturing operations at its St Catherine facility as the company restructures its operations in Jamaica.
The company says the closure at the end of July is part of a review of its business operations and long-term strategy, and is not related to the performance of the St Catherine facility.
Following the closure, Sherwin-Williams will transition to a distribution-only model in Jamaica, with distribution continuing from its facilities in St Catherine and Montego Bay.
The company says its 24 company-owned retail stores across the island will remain open, and it will continue serving more than 27-thousand customers through its various distribution channels, and that it will employ 180 people in Jamaica following the transition.
The company says products previously manufactured at the St Catherine facility will instead be produced at other Sherwin-Williams manufacturing locations and imported through its local supply chain to ensure there is no disruption in supplies.
Manufacturing at the St Catherine facility ceased at the end of July, and decommissioning began after the closure and will continue into 2027.
