The victim of Sunday's fatal shooting in Williamsfield, Manchester, has been identified as 14-year-old Mikhail Simpson, a grade 8 student of Bellefield High School in the parish.
It's reported that the police observed a Toyota Mark X motor car turning back at a vehicular checkpoint in Kendal, Manchester, which aroused suspicion.
They drove towards the vehicle which the sped off.
The police gave chase and the vehicle slammed into a pickup travelling in the opposite direction.
When the pursuit ended Mikhail was found suffering from bullet wounds.
He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Two other persons, including his older brother, Malik Simpson, escaped from the car.
He is being treated for a gunshot wound to his face, sustained during the ordeal.
Their sister, Yanique Dixon, raised concern about the police's operation and called for "a proper investigation" to be done.
"What would my 14-year-old [brother] have to do a shooting? There are a lot of mishaps. You killed my brother in cold blood and shot the other one. They went to church with mommy, so they were over the house in Barrack Piece. They know my family. They were just my brothers. Nobody else was in it. I don't know where they get this thing about shootout," she insisted.
"I think my older brother and his dad were given the chance to identify [Mikhail]. So they said he only got one shot, but then when you look on his chest, based on what my brother said, it was riddled and it was full with blood. So it's not just the head shot that he got," Ms. Dixon contended.
Mario Mitchell, the councillor for the Bellefield division, is calling for a thorough investigation into the incident.
The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is probing the incident.
