A 48-hour curfew has been imposed in St. Mary, in a bid to quell gang conflicts and violent incidents.
The curfew, which started at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday will continue until 6:00 p.m., Thursday.
The police expressed concern that violent incidents in sections of the north eastern Jamaica parish that have disrupted public safety and the well-being of residents in the affected communities.
The curfews will cover Enfield, Annotto Bay, Albion Mountain and Free Hill in Port Maria.
The police are promising that operations will be conducted in accordance with the law and with full respect for human rights.
They say this curfew is being enforced to restore calm, safeguard lives and property, and prevent the escalation of violence in the affected areas.
Residents are urged to adhere to the curfew guidelines and cooperate fully with the authorities.
