Eighty-two persons are still being housed in shelters,
more than two weeks after the passage of Tropical Storm Gustav.
The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) says these persons are located in five shelters in Kingston, St. Andrew, St. Catherine, Hanover and Portland.
Ronald Jackson, Director General of the ODPEM, says the Hanover shelter is housing two families who lost their entire homes.
He says efforts are underway to help these persons to find permanent accommodation.
"At this moment we're working with the Ministry of Labour and Social Security to further depopulate the shelters, providing additional resources to help people return home and we will be continuing the process of collecting data on the impacted so that we can make the necessary plans going forward for the recovery process," said Mr. Jackson.
