Head of the Area five police Acting Assistant Commissioner Christopher Phillips wants greater public involvement in the effort to reduce the spate of murders across the island.

ACP Phillips says ridding the communities of criminal elements, particularly those in Area 5, requires a tactical and deliberate approach from the police coupled with greater commitment and participation from citizens.

The Area 5 police commander says as criminals grow more sophisticated the police will respond and bring them to book.

"We have alredy established an area fugitive apprehension team that will seek to agressively go after wanted men and persons of interet. A joint special operations team is now in place with renewed mandate and authorithy to move across the area on special assignments."
