Vehicular traffic in a section of western Jamaica has been disrupted by residents who have blocked the Adelphi main road which borders St. James and Trelawny.
The resident of several communities including Adelphi and Dumfries have lashed out at Member of Parliament for St. James East Central, Edmund Bartlett and Councillor for the Rose Hall division, Anthony Murray for what they say is their failure to have the main road rehabilitated.
Posters bearing the image of Mr. Murray and another with Prime Minister Andrew Holness endorsing Mr. Murray for the February local government election were burned by protesters.
Stones and felled trees have been used to block the roadway.
Radio Jamaica News was told that the residents have been complaining about the state of the Adelphi main road since 2021.
"We have bad road from the West Gate area right into the Dumfries area, to the Trelawny area. You know...it's a connected road. The road bad more than three year now. The people dem tired now. Come on, man," the resident lamented.
"We a vote fi Labourite. Ed Bartlett inna power more than 20 years, and the road is really, really, really, really, really, really bad. You understand? And we really need justice, because when a voting time, di people dem nuh itch. When a nut'n fi do with government, di people dem nuh itch. But we cannot live like this," he complained.
