The Jamaica Debates Commission has announced that three nationally televised and streamed debates have been agreed by the two main political parties.
Chairman of the Jamaica Debates Commission Brian Schmidt says dates have been proposed to the two parties.
He says so far, the Peoples National Party has responded, and the JDC awaits the Jamaica Labour Party's response.
Mr Schmidt says several issues will be addressed during the debates, the first of which will focus on social issues. The second will be on the economy and the third will be the leadership debate, featuring Jamaica Labour Party Leader Dr Andrew Holness and PNP President Mark Golding.
"What is going to be different this time around is that the first two debates will be team debates, and the individual debate will be the leadership debate," Mr Schmidt revealed.
He confirmed that the JDC has been receiving the support required to stage the debates.
