Alleged members of the Bentley Lane Gang operating in Rose Town, Kingston are to appear in the Home Circuit Court on October 18.
Alleged commander of the gang, 37-year-old Navado Lyons - otherwise called 'Gwaan Bad' or 'Bad' - and seventeen of his co-accused appeared in the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court on Tuesday.
The case was transferred to the High Court after Senior Parish Court Judge Sanchia Burrell informed the parties that she has no jurisdiction to preside over the case.
The men were remanded.
They are charged under the anti-gang legislation for being members of a criminal organisation and participating in a criminal organisation.
They have been accused of being involved in gang activities in the Rose Town community over the last four years.
Investigators alleged that on October 22, last year, two of the defendants along with another member of the Bentley Lane gang, were behind a double murder committed in the area.
The murder was said to be in reprisal for the killing of a member of the gang in the community.
