A Bill, to amend the Access to Information Act, is expected to be tabled in Parliament before the end of the 2014/15 legislative year.
That's the word from Phillip Paulwell, Leader of Government Business in the House of Representatives.
A mandatory review of the Act was carried out by a Joint Select Committee and approved by the Lower House in 2011. Mr. Paulwell says the delay in submitting the Bill is due primarily to assistance Jamaica is receiving in further reviewing the legislation.
The Access to Information Act, which was passed in 2002, provides an opportunity to gain access to official government documents, while promoting freedom of information.
