Another escapee from Barnett Street Police lock-up recaptured

Another escapee from the Barnett Street Police lock-up in St. James is back behind bars.

Maurice Belnavis, a 42-year-old fisherman of Great Pond in Ocho Rios, St. Ann, was recaptured on Thursday.

Radio Jamaica News informed that Belnavis, who has been on the run since November last year, was spotted in the Buckfield area by an off-duty policeman stationed in St. James.

The policeman accosted Belnavis and called for backup.

Belnavis was among five prisoners who escaped from the Barnett Street Police Station in December 2024.

Three of the escapees were fatally shot by the police, while a fourth was recaptured after he was shot and wounded by the police.
