Attorney welcomes changes in Road Traffic Regulations affecting use of electronic devices by motorists

Attorney Clive Munroe Junior says the new directives issued to the police following the review of the Road Traffic Act and its regulations were necessary to address ambiguities in relation to the use of electronic devices by motorists.

New directives were issued to the police to only ticket motorists who are seen with electronic devices, including cell phones, in their hands while driving.

Mr Munroe, speaking Sunday on Radio Jamaica's That's a Rap, said there was a need for guidance in how the police treat the use of electronic devices in certain situations.

He said there were situations in which some persons were unreasonably ticketed for use of electronic devices.
