Beating of Robert Lightbourne High School students referred to personnel committee

The board of Robert Lightbourne High School in St. Thomas has referred a matter pertaining to the alleged off campus beating of two students by a teacher to its personnel committee.

The school board reportedly met on Tuesday and made the decision to refer the matter to its personnel committee.

It was reported that, following a Heritage Week event at the school, a teacher requested that the grade ten boys assist in moving chairs, and this led to an argument which led to a fight.

Following the altercation the two boys were suspended from classes.

While the boys were headed home on a public passenger vehicle, the teacher reportedly followed the vehicle and caused it to stop. He reportedly entered the bus, accompanied other men who beat both boys.

The matter has been reported to the police and the Ministry of  Education.
