Belize to send troops to Haiti

Belize's Ministry of National Defense has confirmed that the country will be sending troops to Haiti to assist in quelling the ongoing bloodletting and unrest in the French Speaking CARICOM country.
 
According Minister Florencio Marin at least 50 soldiers and coast guards will be deployed under the joint special mission.
 
He says the government is still working through the final details of the mission but preparations for training, equipment and finalising costs, are underway.
 
Belize will join Jamaica, Barbados, Antigua and Barbuda and St. Lucia as CARICOM nations, in the now United Nations' peacekeeping mission to restore political and social order in Haiti.
