The 2013 Game Bird Hunting Season will open on August 24 and close on September 29.
The National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) announced that Robert Pickersgill, Minister of Water, Land Environment and Climate Change, approved the 2013 Game Bird Hunting Season in keeping with the recommendation of the Natural Resources Conservation Authority (NRCA).
The Game Bird Hunting Season is regulated under the Wild Life Protection Act (WLPA) 1945 and it is mandatory that prospective hunters obtain a Hunter’s Licence from NEPA or one of its Authorized Vendors.
Those wishing to purchase a Hunter’s Licence must have a Tax Registration Number (TRN).
NEPA says information on the sale of Hunter’s Licences will be published at a later date.
Anyone caught breaching the Act by carrying out activities such as hunting without a Licence, hunting in Game Reserves, hunting outside of designated periods, or hunting birds which are not designated game birds, as well as exceeding the bag limit can be fined up to J$100 thousand and/or imprisoned.
