The Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) was evacuated on Wednesday night due to a bomb threat.
However, no flights were affected.
Transport Minister Daryl Vaz told Radio Jamaica News that the threat was received through web chat to Caribbean Airlines.
"The building was immediately evacuated while the relevant agencies were called to assist. Thankfully, all flights had already departed or arrived for the night, so no flights were affected. The police, C-TOC, JDF and all other parties did their sweeps of the building and the building was reopened at 11:55 p.m."
Minister Vaz expressed concern about the potential disruption that could have resulted from the prank.
"I can't fathom who could think that that would be something that could help Jamaica. And it is an unprecedented situation which I'm quite concerned about," he lamented.
