Burials resume at Meadowrest, after Saturday's cancellations due to heavy rain

Burials resumed Sunday at Meadowrest Memorial Gardens in St Catherine after flooding resulted in the cancellation of 19 burials on Saturday.

Heavy showers Saturday afternoon had left the road leading to the cemetery impassable.

Managing Director of the Spanish Town based Archer's Funeral Home Michael Archer told RJR News  that arrangements had to be made to return bodies to the funeral homes in light of the dire situation.

He said the Sunday burials would be at no additional cost to the grieving relatives who had been so badly inconvenienced and traumatized by Saturday’s postponements.

Mr. Archer is urging the authorities to quickly repair the road leading to the cemetery.
