The Minister of Tourism says fears that immigration concerns in the United States would have significantly affected visitor arrivals for the just concluded Jamaica Carnival 2025 have not materialised.

The ministry says Jamaica Carnival, Grand Slam Track and the Issa/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Championships have resulted in a welcomed boom in earnings for Kingston and other parishes.

Speaking specifically to carnival, State Minister in the Tourism Ministry Delano Seiveright says the benefits are spread across all stakeholders in the sector.

"Of course, hotels, villas, Airbnb properties in Kingston and outside of Kingston to include Ocho Rios and as far as St. Elizabeth are benefitting from the carnival boom with many visitors of course opting to stay in Airbnbs and hotels across Kingston or Ocho Rios and elsewhere. Also very happy to see the benefits that have trickled down to food and drink vendors, seamstresses, costume designers, hairdressers, barbers, transportation operators, security teams, many other Jamaicans are benefitting from this public-private partnership win-win and that is something that we are very keen on seeing more of," said the state minister.

Senator Seiveright said Jamaica Carnival last year generated $4.4 billion in direct revenue.
