Four prominent athletes transferred from St Jago to JC

An apparent falling-out between US-based former St Jago sprinter Davaon Spence and the St Jago Foundation has led to the transfer of four of the school's most promising athletes to a rival institution. 

Sprinters Jevaney Findlay and Rajaun Romelly who won silver and bronze respectively in the Class 3 boys 100m at the 2025 ISSA GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Championships, as well as this year's Class 3 100m silver medallist J'Den Fisher and sprint hurdler Jaquan Jackson, have all transferred from St Jago to Jamaica College for the start of the new school year.

It's understood the transfers were prompted by a disagreement between the St Jago Foundation and former student athlete Davaon Spence who worked closely with the Class 3 sprinters at the school between 2023 and 2025 and also funded the track and field programme.

Based on ISSA rules and the requirement to sit out a year of competition, the transferred athletes will not be able to represent JC at next year's staging of the Boys and Girls Championships and the Penn Relays.

In the meantime, a reliable source told Radio Jamaica Sports that more St Jago male athletes could switch schools, as a few more transfer requests have been submitted to principal Collette Feurtado-Pryce.
