Case against man charged for impersonating police transferred to Gun Court

The case involving a St. Catherine contractor accused of impersonating a police officer has been transferred to the Gun Court in Kingston.

Twenty-seven-year-old Alex Murray, of Time and Patience district, appeared in court on Tuesday where he was further remanded.

Murray, who is represented by attorney Denise Henson, is charged with impersonating a police officer and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Police reported that about 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, they received information that a man posing as a cop went to a school in Spanish Town, searching for a female teacher.

His actions reportedly raised suspicion among staff who alerted the police.

Officers responded, but the man had already left the location.

Further investigations led to the interception of the vehicle he was driving.

Police say he was seen wearing a black pollo shirt, bearing the police insignia, and he allegedly identified himself as a member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

Checks later revealed that Murray is a contractor with a telecommunications company.

A subsequent search of his home reportedly uncovered an imitation firearm, along with clothing associated with police operatives.

Murray was later charged.
