Charlton McFarlane, former Chief Executive Officer of the Registrar General's Department, is the new CEO of the Universal Service Fund.
The appointment takes effect today.
His appointment follows the passing of the previous CEO, Dr Daniel Dawes, on May 24 last year.
During the interim, the fund was led by its financial controller, Andrew McRae.
The USF board says it is confident that Mr McFarlane's vision and expertise will continue the progress set by Dr Dawes and lead the agency into its next phase of growth and innovation.
