Colin Bell has withdrawn as the People's National Party's caretaker for the Portland Eastern constituency.
Mr Bell made the announcement during an Instagram Live stream.
He said that he was not getting the support of some councillors within the constituency.
Mr Bell subsequently confirmed his decision with Radio Jamaica News but declined to speak further on the matter.
