Following mounting criticisms over a lack of public involvement in the work of the Constitutional Reform Committee, the group is to host the first in a series of public consultations on the plan to transition Jamaica to a republic.
The committee has been criticised by several special interest groups for its approach to constitutional reform.
National Integrity Action and the Advocates Network have expressed concern about what it terms the committee "putting the cart before the horse" in deciding on the future look of the constitution without the input of Jamaicans.
The first public consultation is set for tomorrow at the Montego Bay Civic Centre in Sam Sharpe Square Montego Bay.
The Committee is expected to outline phase one of the reform process and obtain feedback from members of the public.
