Costa Rica probing whether recent drug bust in its waters linked to Jamaica

The authorities in Costa Rica are trying to determine if a recent drug bust in its territorial waters is linked to Jamaica.

According to an October 30 report in Dialogo, a digital military magazine in Costa Rica, the Ministry of Public Security reported the seizure of 3,086 pounds of marijuana that two Costa Ricans were transporting in a speedboat in the Caribbean Sea, off the Limón province.

A U.S. Air Force patrol team detected the vessel.

Michael Soto, Costa Rica's Minister of Public Security, said investigators are conducting analysis to ascertain whether the ganja came from Jamaica.
