Court of Appeal to begin hearing arguments in the case of Vybz Kartel et al

The Court of Appeal will on Monday start hearing arguments to determine whether Adidja Palmer, the dancehall artste who uses the stage name, Vybz Kartel, and three other men should be retried for the alleged murder of Clive 'Lizard' Williams.

Palmer, Shawn 'Campbell; Kahira Jones, and Andre St John were charged with murder in 2011.

The hearing is expected to last five days.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions is seeking a retrial in the matter.

The four men were convicted in March 2014 for Mr Williams's murder and sentenced to life in prison a month later.

The Court of Appeal upheld their convictions in 2020.

But on March 14 the United Kingdom-based Privy Council overturned the convictions on the grounds of juror misconduct.
