In the latest RJRGLEANER Don Anderson Poll, published on Sunday, Jamaicans have marked Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness and Opposition Leader Mark Golding as average or above in the stewardship of their respective portfolios.

Sixty per cent of respondents in public opinion poll rated the Prime Minister's performance in office as very good, good or average, while 40 per cent gave him a negative grade.

A breakdown of the findings of the survey, conducted from January 30 to February 12 among 1,201 registered voters, aged 18 years and older from across all parishes – shows that 14 per cent of respondents believe the Prime Minister is doing a very good job.

Nineteen per cent said the JLP Leader is doing a good job, and 27 per cent rated his performance as average.

In the survey, which has a margin of error of ±3 per cent, 20 per cent said Prime Minister Holness is doing a very poor job and, equally, 20 per cent said Dr Holness, who has been in office for nine years, rated it as poor.

For Mr Golding, who has been leading the parliamentary opposition for just over four years, 61 per cent believe that his performance is very good, good, or average.

On the contrary, 39 per cent have given him the thumbs down.

The ratings of both leaders come as the PNP holds a slight lead over the JLP in party standings, with 35.4 per cent of respondents indicating that they would vote for the opposition party if a general election were called now, compared with the 30.7 per cent who would vote for the JLP.

Those uncommitted total 33.9 per cent of respondents.
