Cross examination continues in Ninja Man's murder trial

Defence attorneys on Tuesday continued intense cross examination of the key prosecution witness at the trial of dancehall entertainer Desmond Ninja Man Ballentine.

Ninja Man and his son, Janiel Ballentine, and a third accused, Dennis Clayton, are on trial for the March 2009 murder of Ricardo Johnson, popularly known as Trooper.

Mr. Johnson was fatally shot in a yard along Mall Road in Olympic Gardens, St. Andrew.

The witness testified that the entertainer entered the yard with a gun and fired two shots at him.

He testified that Mr. Johnson, who was also in the yard, was fatally shot by the artiste and the other accused.

The witness, who escaped injury, is now under the Witness Protection Programme.

Prosecutors said he was the target of the attack.

However, defence attorneys, led by Valerie Neita Robertson, have been challenging the credibility of his testimony since he took the witness box last Thursday.

The trial continues on Wednesday.
