Data collection for the Jamaica Survey of Living Conditions will begin on August 4 and continue for four months.
A total of 12,000 homes across the country, covering all parishes, will be visited.
The Planning Institute of Jamaica and the Statistical Institute of Jamaica announced plans for the survey during a Jamaica Information Service Think Tank session on Friday.
Philone Mantock, Director of the Field Services Division at STATIN, stressed that the JSLC, conducted annually since 1988, is Jamaica's most comprehensive source of social data, informing the development and monitoring of national policies and programmes.
Nutritional levels
Nicole Allen, acting unit head of the Labour Market and Welfare Statistics Division of STATIN, who also spoke at the Think Tank session, said the Jamaica Survey of Living Conditions will be gauging the nutritional level of the country's children.
She said the focus will be on children five years of age and younger.
