The death toll from the passage of Hurricane Maria in Dominica has increased to 15.
Dominica Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit confirmed the death toll on ABS TV on Thursday morning.
He said the dead have already been buried by their relatives due to health concerns.
At least another 16 people are reportedly missing. However, a better assessment of those missing or dead will be conducted when authorities visit communities on Friday.
Residents remain without power and running water.
In the meantime, two deaths have been reported in Guadeloupe and one in Puerto Rico.
Hurricane Maria's next potential target is the Turks and Caicos Islands, which are still recovering from Hurricane Irma.
Hurricane warnings remain in effect for the northeastern coast of the Dominican Republic.
